    Position Overview 

    We are seeking a Team Lead ESG (Corporate Rating), to lead our dynamic research team in Manila. The team conducts ESG analysis covering a continuously expanding universe of more than 4,000 companies across major global indices (large, mid and small cap). The oekom Corporate rating provides investors with a basis for their investment decisions and provide companies with a valuable benchmark.

    The successful candidate will be part of the dynamic ISS-oekom research team, that specializes in assessing the environmental and social performance of the world's most relevant companies and in compiling research reports. The majority of analysts are currently based in Munich (Germany), but teams in Berlin (Germany), Rockville (USA) and Manila (Philippines) are currently being established.

    The successful candidate will lead a large team of newly hired (junior) analysts. Team size is subject to prior leadership experience and can range from around 10 up to 30 persons.

    Key responsibilities of this position include creating and maintaining a productive, cooperative and respectful team culture in line with ISS values. The team lead will collect and compile feedback, conduct annual performance reviews, and identify and promote talent. The job also requires team leads to listen to team members, detect emerging issues at an early stage and develop and implement sustainable solutions.  

    Team administration, task allocation, project and capacity planning and managing workflows will be part of the daily routine. The team lead must be able to prioritize multiple, sometimes competing deliverables under tight deadlines. The successful candidate will need to be able to work both independently and collaboratively with the team across different locations. Intercultural communication skills are considered a key success factor, including the ability to address challenges in interactions with other stakeholders in an open and straightforward manner.   


    • Building and maintaining a productive and inspiring team environment and culture based on ISS values
    • Managing a large analyst team, including administrative tasks, project planning and ensuring smooth workflows
    • Talent development including annual performance reviews as well as Identification and promotion of talent
    • Close collaboration with research team members abroad
    • Detecting emerging issues and developing solutions
    • Optional: ESG research with a focus evaluating companies' ESG performance and strategies and compile rating reports


    • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree and minimum of 5 years relevant work experience
    • Leadership experience is a bonus but not required if leadership abilities can be clearly demonstrated
    • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to create a productive and inspiring work environment 
    • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple, sometimes competing deliverables under tight deadlines
    • Excellent English language skills, both written and oral
    • Ability to communicate and work in a geographically dispersed organization, including Intercultural communication skills, the ability to discuss challenges in an open manner and address emerging issues timely and directly
    • Efficient, systematic and pragmatic approach to work, well-organized and highly reliable  
    • A desire to show initiative and continuously improve processes 
    • Excellent user of Microsoft Office (in particular Excel) 
    • Prior experience in recruiting is desirable, as well as familiarity with local conditions and business culture
