  • Overview

    The Linux Administrator will be a part of a team responsible for the management and monitoring of a large number of Red Hat Linux systems in all regions of the world.  Core functions for this role include management of server and storage systems, issue resolution, and management of new installations, upgrades, and migrations.

    This role includes responsibilities for interacting internal customers at ISS and with internal and external audit functions responsible for managing compliance testing of control requirements.

    Responsibilities

    • BS in Information Systems or related field, or equivalent experience
    • 8+ years of proven experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux
    • Experience with open-source software
    • Working knowledge of standard Linux backup and recovery tools
    • Working knowledge of standard Linux security methodologies, hardening procedures, and best practices
    • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
    • Plan and conduct installations, transitions, upgrades of all compute systems (Windows and/or Linux running in a VMWARE environment)
    • Evaluate, design, develop and maintain server, storage, and other IT strategies for the enterprise, and all supporting products and services.
    • Analyze server and storage characteristics (e.g., CPU behavior, latency, transmission speeds, packet loss and throughput), triage and troubleshoot problems.
    • Implements policies for the appropriate use and management of the firm’s compute resources
    • Hands on experience setting up servers and all related supporting infrastructure (backup systems, patching framework, mail relays, etc)
    • Experience with 3rd party monitoring tools and analyzers
    • Proven experience with complex multi-site and global network design, multi-layered switch environment, firewalls, VPN, Load balancers, DNS
    • Experience in implementing services across a WAN
    • Ability to prioritize, and work well under pressure
    • Excellent communication & documentation skills, both in technical and non-technical arenas
    • Ability to work with a global support team
    • Ability and willingness for on-call and after hours work
       

     


     

    Qualifications

    • RHCE, RHCA, Red Hat Certificate of Expertise in Server Hardening
    • Demonstrated experience working with Red Hat products such as RHS, RHGS, RHDS, etc.
    • Certifications or relevant real-world experience in HP Servers, EMC Storage, VMWare, and Cisco
    • Configuration Management (Puppet/Chef/Ansible/Salt) and MTA implementation experience (Sendmail/Postfix/Exim)
