ISS is currently seeking Head, Asia ex-Japan Research to join our global research team based out of our Singapore office.

ISS analysts have unique expertise and insight on the governance and RI landscape, local market voting practices and regulatory requirements, along with expertise in varied fields such as law, M&A, compensation, and analytics.

Responsibilities

COVERAGE (14 markets currently)

  • China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea,  Singapore, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Philippines

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise the preparation and publication of research and proxy voting recommendations on publicly traded companies in the Asia (ex-Japan) markets
  • Responsible for AxJ teams based in Singapore (direct) and Manila (indirect)
  • Foster development and growth of the analysts and team leads in both offices
  • Uphold positive work environment and team culture
  • Continue to enhance ISS voting policies and guidelines applicable to each market, while ensuring consistency in approach and principle with regional and global guidelines
  • Lead additional market thematic research or initiatives on an as-requested or as-needed basis
  • Participate in engagement meetings and calls with corporate executives, directors, financial and legal advisers, institutional investors, as well as regulators.
  • Represent ISS and AxJ Research to global clients, issuer community, media, regulators, and other stakeholders
  • Represent AxJ Research at inter-departmental meetings, and coordinate efforts between AxJ research and other research teams
  • Collaborate with Sales, Account Management, ISS-Ethix, Operations, Development and other ISS  teams to identify and support ISS clients and new business opportunities
  • Participate in various market facing events such as conferences and workshops to promote the ISS brand

Qualifications

  • Senior governance, research, investment, or other related experience essential.
  • Superior analytical, verbal, and written skills
  • Strong understanding of equity capital markets, investment issues, and corporate governance
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing diversity in a team setting (demographic, geographic, cultural, etc.)
  • Strong commitment to quality and excellence
